Bank Holiday Opening
We are open as normal over the April/May Bank Holiday period, i.e. we are open Friday April 29th.
All change in the Europe this week as we begin to receive our first Dutch glasshouse crops of the season. In addiction to vine tomatoes, there will be a rainbow of Dutch peppers, aubergines, cucumbers and fresh chillies.
While Spain has seen a particularly wet week, our UK farmers are still crying out for rain. Spare a thought for them while we bask in the April sunshine… In the UK the Hungry Gap is really starting to bite, with leafy cabbages being particularly hard to come by and purple sprouting broccoli starting to go to seed. There is still a good supply of broccoli and hard cabbages from Holland and Spain however.
Seasonal spring treats come in the form of Lincolnshire asparagus and sorrel, plus and ever increasing range of fresh herbs. Taste-wise, Spanish avocadoes still taste superb and what has been a fantastic season for Spanish strawberries continues to impress.
