Land Army Needs You!
Do you fancy learning some new farming skills; spending half a day on a beautiful farm with a nice bunch of people; helping out local farmers, and being part of a wider movement to increase sustainable food production around the City?
Then Greater Manchester's Land Army is just the thing for you!
The Kindling Trust are looking for volunteers to trial this exciting new project. Working with four local organic growers, this first outing will be doing a range of urgent tasks, from a 'hoe down' to raspberry picking, at a time when farmers are struggling with the challenges the weather has thrown up.
Their solution has been inspired by the women's land armies of the First & Second World Wars, and are offering a solution to a number of challenges faced by local organic growers, including labour issues and costs at busy periods. They are providing induction, transport from Central Manchester, refreshments and any equipment you'll need for an enjoyable and satisfying afternoon in the countryside.
Raspberries will be ready for picking very soon, so they are looking for able and reliable volunteers on the afternoons of Wednesday 6th July & Monday 11th July.(meeting up at 12.00 and getting back to Manchester by 6pm):
If you are interested email them as soon as possible at: email@example.com (please type Land Army into the subject bar, say which of the days you could do and provide a phone number).
