A couple of iconic UK season beginnings this week, both from Carey Organics in Hereford.
Broad beans: Not only do you get to eat delicously fresh beans, you get bonus meditation practice while you sit and pop them out of their velvety beds and skins. But we’re not all double-podders. As it’s still early, these young beans could actually be eaten with or without their thin skins.
Strawberries: In most supermarkets you can get them all year round and from all over the world. It’s a product that we feel is worth waiting for and highlights the joys of seasonal eating. Arrival is on Thursday.
Colleen new potatoes now available from Rospeath Farm in Cornwall. Just in! We’ll provide tasting notes soon…
We got many questions about the gappy supply of coriander the past few weeks. We’re happy to see Strawberry Field’s first batch coming in on Thursday. Paired with Duncav Gielty’s it should be steadily available from now on.
From Europe: It’s about to get really exciting on the fruit front. Univert Co-operative (you know them from their excellent leafy produce in the winter) are sending us a pallet of French sweet stuff, grown in Provence. Expect Charentais melons, blushed apricots and plump cherries!
