Not so much veg news as veg logistics:
The post X-mas and post New Year’s period is a tricky time for sourcing fresh produce. Both suppliers and hauliers are operating on reduced schedules. So here’s what to expect over the next 7 days or so:
- New Year’s weekend (from Friday 28th) should be close to a normal range with lots of deliveries coming in from the UK and Europe. Plenty of fresh greenery (including Salad leaves from Glebelands) as well cauliflowers from Cornwall.
- Wednesday 2nd will be the trickiest day. The range will be on the lean side, but with a fresh injection of lettuces and winter greens from Duncan Gielty, who’ll be making the trip down from Ormskirk especially.
- Thursday 3rd you’ll inevitably still notice a few gaps in our offer, although our UK range will be back to full strength. You can even look forward to some lovely spinach beet from Libby Flintoff in Preston.
- From Friday 4th onwards all should be back to normal.
We’ll be back with more in-depth veg news in 2019. In the meantime thank you for all your custom and engagement!
Happy New Year!
