We’re gearing up for a very busy one next week as we prepare to close the shop for 2 weeks from Easter Sunday. We’ve never done this before and while the thought of a new shop is super exciting, we’re a little nervous too… we’re expecting high demand in the days before closing and we don’t want to disappoint any customers. It’s also really important that we don’t lose our heads and buy too much stuff either – we always do our best to stop any food going to waste.
With that in mind, we’d encourage you to do big shops towards the start of the week – the range of fresh produce will be best between Monday and Thursday – to avoid disappointment don’t leave your visit to the last minute (Saturday 1st April to be precise!)
For those wanting to stock up there’ll be lots of bulk availability on popular lines: 10kg sacks of carrots, 4 and 10kg bags of onions and 25kg sacks of potatoes as well as boxes of oranges, apples and lemons too. If there’s anything you’d like in larger quantities please ask a member of staff – we’ll be happy to oblige if we’ve got it in stock.
Seasonality wise, purple sprouting broccoli continues to be the star of the show this week…there’s a great supply from Francis Sampson in Penzance and Organic Pantry in Yorkshire. From Europe there’s the first bunches of Spanish asparagus and Dutch radishes as well as some beautiful Italian fennel on offer too. Loose strawberries from Spain, as well as blueberries and raspberries, are all developing nicely in flavour.
Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding in what will likely be a hectic week. There’s fresh deliveries of produce planned every day and we promise they’ll be plenty on offer for the imaginative cook. Back open Monday 19th April with a freshly-stocked fridge!
