Visit Unicorn’s Living Roof as part of Chorlton Open Gardens, 11am – 5pm
Once again we’re part of the much-loved Chorlton Open Gardens; opening our “living roof” garden to the public. There’ll be tasty treats from suppliers Holy Grain Sourdough Bakery & Sodada Kombucha up there too, plus snacks & drinks from us.
Chorlton Open Gardens is taking place over the whole weekend, with North Chorlton gardens (including us) opening on the Saturday 25th and South Chorlton on Sunday 26th.
You can visit our roof for free, but we’d encourage you to buy a programme for £5 to tour all the gardens. The event is totally volunteer-run, and all money raised goes to the wonderful Freedom From Torture. Programmes are on sale at Chorlton Nursery, Blossom Flowers, Chorlton Bookshop and Creative Recycling Gallery, or you can grab one from outside Unicorn on the weekend itself.
To see our roof garden, just turn up at any time between 11 and 5, and head to the external side door by the cash machine, where someone will show you up! The roof is fully accessible; just let us know if you’d like to use the lift.
Customer Co-op Tours – See behind the scenes at Unicorn! 11.30am – 4.30pm
Ever wondered what us Unicorns get up to off the shop floor? Have a look round the bits you never get to see, with our first ever Customer Co-op Tours!
A co-op member will show you around our warehouse, packing room, offices, roof garden and rest space. You’ll learn how being a worker-controlled and owned business places unique demands on our workspace, and how our use of the site is driven by our remit to keep our grocery prices competitive.
Thirty minute tours will take place at 11.30, 12.30, 2.30, 3.30 & 4.30. Spots are pretty limited, and we’re not able to take bookings in advance. We’re tagging this on to Chorlton Open Gardens, so just swing by on the day, follow the outside signs for “Unicorn’s Roof Garden & Co-op Tours” and ask the person on the door to put your name down for the next available spot.
