We’ve seen the very first UK strawberries of the season this week, which pair perfectly with our first deliveries of UK basil, courtesy of Strawberry Fields, Ward & Thompson, and Farmstart. Elsewhere on the display UK ratatouille continues to shine, with aubergines and courgettes coming in thick and fast from Lyncroft farm and Libby Flintoff. New season UK red cabbage is also here, with the first deliveries from Duncan Gielty of Lyncroft farm exhibiting richly pigmented and robust leaves. In this warm weather we recommend it thinly shredded and tossed with seeds and a tangy vinaigrette for a vibrant summer salad. We’ll also be getting broccoli exclusively from the UK from here on in, both from Nacton in Suffolk and Will Edwards in Lincolnshire.
From Europe, stone fruits continue to hold centre stage with nectarines and french chanterais melons and apricots tasting particularly good at the moment.
