Perfectly formed and generously sized, cauliflowers are the stars of the show this week, courtesy of Pollybell in Doncaster. We’ve also had our first delivery of broccoli this week from Pollybell, which is more of the same fabulous quality. Elsewhere we continue to have an excellent supply of local courgettes at the minute, with the vast majority coming from Glebelands just down the road in Sale. We’re also getting smaller quantities from Farmstart, Ward & Thompson, and Libby Flintoff.
This year’s record breaking heat wave might feel like ancient history, but we do feel it important to once again mention its continued impact on our growers and their produce. As it stands, it was the hottest July on record, and some of our more delicate leafy lines will be noticeably absent for the foreseeable.
From Europe and French grapes are finally here and tasting utterly divine! We’re also expecting the first French figs by the end of the week, so watch this space!
