Lots of new stuff this week!
Fresh herbs are this week’s undisputed highlight as UK coriander and dill make their return, both courtesy of Duncan Gielty of Lyncroft Farm. Supply is limited, but we expect another delivery in time for the weekend. Also from Duncan this week is pak choi, new since the weekend and looking super fresh! Elsewhere spring greens are in plentiful supply, currently on Francis Sampsons’ with Duncan’s joining them by the end of the week. We’ve also an excellent supply of Sampson’s purple sprouting broccoli, with further deliveries from Organic Pantry and Pool Hullock Farm down in Herefordshire this Friday.
From Europe and as promised, chirimoyas are back! One of the more unique fruits in our offer, the rich, creamy flesh is the perfect consistency to be utilised in a dessert: just remove the seeds, and blend with dairy-free milk, vanilla, and cinnamon, and use it like a custard. Italian Radicchio is looking fabulous and great value, as is French rainbow chard. Radicchio, akin to chicory, has a bitter flavour raw which mellows once cooked. Its vibrant burgundy colouring makes it perfect for salads, but it can be lightly grilled.
