The glorious weather of the past few days has finally got us in the mood for salad!
Thankfully we’ve got lots of it: Farmstart’s loose salad leaves and generously sized rocket bags are looking great, as is Libby Flintoff’s spinach beet; just look at those leaves! We’ll be getting rocket from Libby later in the week as well, so there’s plenty to go round. Our French radish bunches are looking equally tempting and perfect for a pop of colour and texture, while French baby leaf kale is another great leafy option this week: it’s super tender so it can be enjoyed raw as well as cooked.
Onto fruit and those of you who’ve already been into the shop today may have noticed the return of rhubarb, grown just a stone’s throw away at Glebeland’s market garden in Sale. Rhubarb’s characteristically tart flavour and vibrant hue make it a winner in pretty much any kind of dessert, and what better accompaniment than Cherry orchard’s Bramley apples (the last of the season!). Crumble, cakes, jam, tarts, pies… the possibilities are endless. We’d love to see what you come up with!
