We’d be hard pressed to think of a better pairing for this glorious summer sunshine than a sumptuous, juicy peach. Lucky for us, stone fruit season is in full swing and we’ve a full selection of produce to show for it. Peaches and nectarines have been flying off the shelves, but really you’ll be spoilt for choice.
This week we’re rattling through a mix of apricot varieties: Spring Blush, Colorado and Pinkot. Try them all and decide on your favourite! We’ve also some flat peaches in the mix, as well as the first spanish plums of the season, Early Queen, which are a deep red variety and very sweet. Spanish cherries are amazing right now and with such a short season they’re a treat not to be missed. Remember, stone fruits are super versatile and can be utilised in both sweet and savoury dishes, enjoyed raw or cooked, so don’t be shy, get creative!
On the UK side, you may have noticed the much anticipated return of our new potatoes. Duncan Gielty’s maris bard and the golden nugget and colleen from Masters Farm in Jersey are here to start us off, and we can safely say that they’ve been well worth the wait. Fabulous flavour and texture, really a superb start to the season.
