The clocks have gone back and things are starting to feel decidedly Autumnal here with people steering away from our salad fridge and towards the root stand.
Ready to cook up alongside your roast potatoes and celeriac we have some delightful greens.
Pam at Strawberry Fields and John at Newfields have both brought us some fantastic looking bunches of Cavolo Nero. We think Cavolo Nero is the King of Kales, deeper green and stronger in flavour than Green Kale it can carry a dressing of garlic and chilli, and works well in a life giving Minestrone Soup, perfect now the nights are drawing in.
Pam has also delivered the goods with some huge Spring Greens, ready to be chopped and sauteed and covered in gravy on Sunday (or any other day this week)
Our friends in Perpignan have been sending us some deliciously sweet Persimmon fruits. Best eaten very ripe when they are sticky and jam-like, some of you will know them better as Kaki or Sharon fruits.
