With the accompaniment of so many delicious tomatoes this time of year basil is the obvious herb choice. Pam Bowers at Strawberry Fields is cutting a big harvest for us on Thursday so it will be in plentiful supply for the weekend.
It’s such a beautiful fragrant herb and it’s been filling our cold store with its lovely scent.
A less obvious companion, peaches and basil are a match made in salad heaven and we have both in abundance this week.
We will have French peaches on our shelves at the start of the week and Spanish at the end and both are sumptuous at the moment. Stone fruit season is in full swing!
