With the forecast showing signs of improving this week (fingers crossed eh) it’s a pleasure to see new UK produce start to appear on the shelves, with hopefully more to come. We welcome back long standing brassica grower Will Edwards of New Farm in Lincolnshire towards the end of this week. We hope you’re as pleased as we are to see his outstanding cauliflower and broccoli back up North!
Closer to home, Duncan Gielty of Lyncroft farm in Ormskirk has a raft of new additions to his almost bewildering array of Lancashire grown produce. Many of our customers will be familiar with Duncan’s stout aubergines and the sumptuous crunch of his little gems. This week we’re pleased to welcome back his heirloom tomatoes, a firm staff and customer favourite last year, as well as his new season UK carrot bunches which are packing plenty of flavour. A shout out as well to his field grown kohl rabi, an often overlooked brassica which goes down a treat roasted, sauteed or simply shredded and added to a slaw.
