That bit of sunshine in Manchester last week has had everyone reaching for the leafy salads!
Alongside Lyncroft Farm’s lovely, delicate butterheads, we’re expecting an early arrival of Strawberry Fields’ Green Oakleaf lettuces this Thursday – tunnel-grown in Lincolnshire and looking mighty fine, as you can see in the photos. The early spring sunshine has really helped them to fill out beautifully.
Pam and the team have also brought in some excellent spring onions – tunnel-grown, overwintered, and absolutely huge. Really top quality bunches.
Kindling Market Garden’s salad mix has tipped more towards larger lettuce and mustard leaves now but still includes a little of the crunchy purslane and is tasting as fantastic as it looks. And we’re excited to have local, Lancashire rocket back too! Both Libby Flintoff in Preston and Kindling are bringing plenty this week – it’s peppery, fresh, and tasting fantastic.
Also from Kindling, don’t miss their fiery Landcress – similar to Watercress this really packs a punch. It won’t be around for long though, so get it while you can!
If you’re looking for something milder in flavour Lyncroft Farm have bags of baby chard and baby spinach, as lovely raw as it is cooked.
