Lots of lines moving south in Europe as the unseasonably warm weather grinds to a halt. Most noticeable in our range is the end of Dutch glasshouse crops such as aubergines, peppers, cucumbers & tomatoes. Anticipate us looking to Spain for the winter months. With many of these still plentiful in warmer southern climes, they offer good value as a result.
European top shelf fruit continues to impress. Spanish clementines & lemons are now abundant, oranges are sweetening up, while pomegranates and persimmons remain plentiful. Keitt mangos worth a shout too… dull in appearance but rich in flavour.
Closer to home, British broccoli’s coming into its last few weeks. All the more reason to highlight an influx of weekend Cornish brassicas from near Penzance. Expect Francis Sampson’s frost free fields to become the mainstay of our winter brassica range as we hurtle towards Christmas!
