Lovely brassica options from Francis Sampson this Easter week. His farm in Penzance is ideally located in a Cornish microclimate. Look out for cauliflowers and spring greens if you’re making a seasonal Easter dish (plus purple sprouting broccoli next week!) Whole roasted cauliflowers look fantastic as a centerpiece on the table and taste delicious. You can experiment with different coatings and sauces.
Other veg highlights are new season Dutch aubergines and Duncan Gielty’s Lancashire pak choi.
Fruit-wise: make sure to enjoy the end of season blood oranges and navel oranges from Agrico-op – they are super sweet! There’ll be plenty of raspberries and strawberries too, but blueberries are taking a small break due to wet weather conditions in Spain.
For the gardeners among you we have young plants from Glebelands’ City Growers in Sale, starting with beans and peas. Make sure to harden them off, by gradually introducing them to the outdoor temperatures before planting them. It would be interesting to hear how your yields are later in the year!
