This week we approach the end of season for some UK lines that we have been enjoying over the recent months. Leeks from the winter UK crops are coming to an end and some potato varieties from John at Newfields in Fadmoor are also finished.
We do have some new varieties of potatoes from Jonny at Organic Pantry in Tadcaster, the Valor variety is perfect for jacket potatoes and we will also have Cara and Alexia.
Although we will be supplementing this week leeks supply with some European produce we will also have John at Newfields baby leeks. The first of the 2024 season they are still on the small side and will be available bunched in the shop.
By the end of next week we are also expecting Pam from Strawberry Fields in Lincolnshire to have some available, so we’re looking forward to those.
From Pam this week we are receiving the last of her tunnel grown Oakleaf lettuces. We’re then looking forward to Pam’s field grown lettuces when they are ready, a bit later than usual due to the extremely wet weather they have been persevering through down there.
To fill up your salad bowl we’ve rocket available in good supply from Libby in Preston and Kindling Garden Market in Stockport.
To add some colour we now are really excited to say we have started with UK season tomatoes from the Isle of Wight. They taste delicious and you can enjoy them with our greek avocado!
